Getting Started with YuScan: The Yu-Gi-Oh! Scanner That Knows Every Print
YuScan is the card scanner, collection tracker and price ledger for Yu-Gi-Oh!. Here's what it does, how the database works, and what ships in the app today.
YuScan · April 17, 2026 · Updated April 22, 2026
Yu-Gi-Oh! has been in print since 1999. Legend of Blue Eyes White Dragon shipped with 126 cards. Today there are more than 13,000 distinct cards across 600+ expansions, Speed Duel, Duel Terminal, Rush Duel, and a banlist that rewrites itself four times a year. A 1st Edition Dark Magician from LOB and a 2024 Quarter Century Chronicle reprint share a name and nothing else.
No binder, spreadsheet or memory is keeping up. YuScan is the app that tries.
What YuScan does
YuScan is four tools fused into one app.
The four pillars
- AI card scanner — on-device model identifies any Yu-Gi-Oh! card in under a second. Works on holos, sleeves, foreign prints, low light.
- Price ledger — live pricing from TCGPlayer, Cardmarket and eBay, tracked per print run and rarity.
- Collection tracker — binders, conditions, 1st Ed / Unlimited / Limited, signed notes; total value recomputed live.
- Deck builder — format-aware (Advanced, Traditional, Speed Duel, Master Duel), with banlist checks and archetype suggestions.
What’s under the hood
The card catalog syncs from YGOPRODeck and Konami’s official database a few times per week — around 13,200 English cards across every booster, Structure Deck, tin, Mega-Pack and Secret Lair equivalent that Konami has ever printed. The database is indexed by card name, archetype, attribute, type, level/rank/link rating, ATK/DEF and set code.
The scanner runs a custom vision model trained on holos, altered arts, OCG-only prints and everything in-between. It doesn’t need the internet to identify cards — the visual index runs on-device, which also means it works in card shops, at locals, and on flights.
Prices come from three sources so you can triangulate. TCGPlayer for the North American market, Cardmarket for European pricing, and eBay sold-listings for everything on the long tail — particularly important for Yu-Gi-Oh!, where a “price” often splits 5–10× between 1st Edition and Unlimited of the same card.
Who YuScan is for
If you play Speed Duel casually and want to know what your binder is worth, it’s more than you need. If you play Master Duel and want a collection tracker that doesn’t live inside Konami’s cloud, this is it. If you collect seriously — pre-errata Pot of Greed, 1st Edition Blue-Eyes, early-era holos — the per-print-run pricing is the thing no other app gets right.
