1. Overview
This Privacy Policy explains how YuScan ("the App") collects, uses, and shares information when you use our app. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Analytics and Usage Data
We use PostHog to understand how the App is used and improve our service. Analytics may include app interactions, feature usage, device model, operating system version, locale, app version and build number, a randomly generated installation identifier, and approximate location (such as country or city) derived from your IP address. This information is pseudonymous rather than directly linked to your name or email address. Android analytics use our PostHog EU project; session recording is disabled. On Android, we do not send camera images, collection or deck names, or the text of your searches to analytics.
2.2 Subscription and Purchase Data
Payments are handled by Apple App Store on iOS and Google Play on Android. We use RevenueCat to validate purchases, restore access, manage subscription status, and understand purchase activity. RevenueCat processes purchase history, product identifiers, transaction information, and an app user identifier. We do not receive your payment card details or billing address from these stores.
2.3 Support and Feedback
If you contact us for support, we may collect your email address and the contents of your message to respond to your inquiry.
2.4 App Data Stored Locally
Your collections, decks, scans, preferences, and settings are stored locally on your device. This data is not automatically uploaded to our servers. Your device operating system may include local app data in its backups, depending on your device and backup settings. Files you explicitly export or share are handled by the destination you choose.
3. Camera and Images
YuScan uses your device camera solely for card scanning. Raw camera images are not stored, transmitted, or shared. Camera data never leaves your device unless you explicitly choose to share a screenshot or card image.
4. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the App's features and functionality
- Measure app performance and identify issues
- Manage subscriptions and in-app purchases
- Respond to your support requests and feedback
- Deliver card database updates and exchange rate data to your device
5. Information Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We may share information only in the following circumstances:
- Service providers: Third-party services that help us operate the App (analytics, subscription management)
- Legal requirements: When required by law, regulation, or legal process
- Affiliate links: Marketplace links to TCGPlayer, Cardmarket, and eBay may contain affiliate identifiers for commission tracking
6. Data Retention
Data stored locally on your device persists until you delete it or uninstall the App. Analytics and purchase records are retained as needed to operate and improve the service, validate and restore purchases, and meet applicable obligations.
7. Your Choices
You can:
- Delete your collections, decks, and scan history within the App at any time
- Clear the image cache and downloaded data from the App's settings
- Manage or cancel your subscription through your Apple ID settings on iOS or Google Play subscriptions on Android
- Remove local app data by clearing app storage or uninstalling the App; device backups and exported files may remain separately
8. Children
YuScan is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
9. Network Requests
The App connects to online services for card database and price updates, card artwork, currency exchange rates, purchase validation, and analytics. Network services receive the IP address needed to respond to requests. Downloaded card data and on-device recognition support offline use, while updates, purchases, and other online features require an internet connection.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected with an updated "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
